Little did we know when we introduced our first holdown in 1966 that our product innovations would lead us to solutions that can help hold together five-story buildings during an earthquake or allow builders to install larger window and door openings in homes. Strong-Frame™ Moment Frames Strong-Wall® Shearwalls Anchor Tiedown Systems

Moment frames provide high lateral-force resistance in a compact area for wood, steel and masonry construction. Unfortunately they are time-intensive to design and labor-intensive to install. Simpson Strong-Tie has taken these factors into consideration and created a cost-effective alternative to traditional frames - the Strong Frame™ ordinary moment frame.

The company's commitment to product design and testing has grown and expanded over the years to include a whole-systems approach to building design. One of the key milestones that launched Simpson Strong-Tie down this path was the development of the factory-built Strong-Wall® shearwall.

The Simpson Strong-Tie® Anchor Tiedown System (ATS) is designed to anchor stacked shearwalls in multi-story wood frame buildings while compensating for construction shrinkage and settling within the structure. The continuous rod system extends from the foundation to the top of the structure and is restrained (tied off) at each level to provide the necessary load capacity and overturning resistance.
