The industry standard column cap. Precision factory gang-punched holes speed installation on this product line. Strap sizes are specifically designed to meet Canadian code requirements.

Canadian Column Caps Discontinued in 2012
The unique Canadian versions of column caps are no longer necessary due to changes in the CSA Standard 086 – Engineered Design in Wood (2009).  Please use the standard column caps.  See page 70 of the Canadian Catalog (C-CAN12) for factored resistance loads of standard CC Column Caps.

There are cost-effective alternatives for replacing column caps by using a combination of connectors. Here are some examples. Designer must specify the options required.

NOTE: The side stirrup will be welded flush with the top of the main cap.

ECCLL (for left), shown above. Order ECCLR for right condition.

Instead of the column cap, consider this connector combination.

ECC and HW (Top Flange Offset Right)
Side stirrups are available in different depths.

Order each connector separately. Specify all side stirrup widths and heights.
For more information, see T-CC-2 and the Product Worksheet.

top Load Table:

This page for Canadian customers only.

Table
  1. Post sides are assumed to lie in the same vertical plane as the beam sides.
  2. Factored resistances may not be increased for short-term load duration.
  3. Factored resistances are determined using ΦFcp equal to: 812 psi (5.6 MPa)for D.Fir-L and 672 psi (4.64 MPa) for Spruce-Pine glulam sizes; 1092 psi (7.53 MPa) for SCL sizes; reduce where end bearing or buckling capacity of post governs.
  4. Factored uplift resistances have been increased 15% for earthquake or wind loading; reduce for other load durations in accordance with the code.
  5. ECC downloads assume a post of W1 x W2.
  6. Specifier to design beam for factored uplift resistance based on effective shear depth as per 10.2.1.4 CSA O86-01
  7. SCL assumes SG = 0.50
  8. Beam depth must be greater than H1.
