Associate Manufacturing Engineer

Stockton, CA

Position Summary:

The Associate Manufacturing Engineer will maintain and streamline branch manufacturing processes in accordance with company guidelines; eliminate waste, increase efficiency, and drive continuous improvement throughout the plant, warehouse, and shipping departments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute system requirements for one or more production efficiency improvement systems
  • Achieve customer-driven system targets for function and cost
  • Establish system architecture and functional feasibility
  • Complete and release components, sub-system and detail designs, utilizing a mix of in-house design and supplier engineering where required (in-house designs are planned for most major commodities)
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams including R&D Engineering, Maintenance and Procurement groups to ensure system manufacturing and assembly feasibility and serviceability
  • Responsible for technical documentation
  • Co-management of capacity planning models and databases development and analysis for production lines
  • Equipment resources planning to meet dynamic business plan changes in product and technology mix and/or volume
  • Develop and implement new methodologies or systems for improved operating efficiencies in capacity planning
  • Identification of efficiency losses via formal Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) procedures
  • Industrial engineering representation on the module team to continuously improve production work flow efficiency and layout and production and development cycle time and WIP turn
  • Representation of Simpson Strong-Tie Inc. in discussions with outside services, consultants, contractors, and suppliers, as needed, to support the above duties
  • Transcribe knowledge from existing associates regarding processes and key manufacturing information. Maintain such knowledge in paper or electronic format, as required.
  • Maintain awareness of technological advancements by researching, attending various workshops, and studying white paper articles and relate technological advancements to branch needs.

Education & Certification Requirements:

Required Bachelor's degree in industrial or mechanical engineering

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

Mechanical Engineering Demonstrated strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals particularly in statics, dynamics and materials.
Lean Knowledge of lean principles
Project management Ability to manage difficult projects, knowledge of effective project management processes, scheduling, and risk management.
Process improvement Ability to perform process modeling, statistical methods, root cause analysis, and time studies.
Operation improvement Knowledge of ergonomics and human factors, capacity planning, and operation plans.
Integrated systems Ability to perform value stream analysis.
Analytical ability Ability to conduct data collection and analysis.
Report Writing Ability to write clear analyses, reports and summaries that are easily accessible and understandable by management and peers.
Presentation skills Ability to effectively present information to various audiences.
Microsoft Office Knowledge of applications such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Manufacturing Technology Demonstrated familiarity of foundation manufacturing technologies including metal forming, welding, bolted joints, etc.
Design Software Strong proficiency in CAD is essential, Autodesk product suite experience preferred.

Travel Required / %: This job requires domestic travel 10% of the time

This full-time, exempt position is located at 5151 S. Airport Way in Stockton, CA.

Relocation will not be considered for this position.
