Composite Strengthening Systems Engineer
The Simpson Strong-Tie Composite Strengthening Systems (CSS) engineering group is focused on delivering education, services and support to both internal and external customers in innovative ways. The CSS Engineer will interact with Simpson employees as well as external customers including Engineers, Architects and Contractors to provide expert consultation in the areas of design, development, and implementation of CSS products to meet project needs. The CSS Engineer will develop project-specific solutions in conjunction with staff engineers and be responsible for the delivery of projects back to the designer. Additionally, the CSS Engineer will provide staff engineers direction and training as needed to complete projects. The CSS Engineer will perform a variety of tasks, provide consultation on complex projects, and is considered to be the top level contributor/specialist. A wide degree of creativity and resourcefulness is expected.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

|25%||Coordinate with design professionals and contractors to provide feasibility studies, design guidance, and installation support for their projects|
|20%||Coordinate project tasks with staff engineers including design, take-off, and shop drawing creation|
|20%||Provide technical training to staff, as well as evaluation of processes and procedures in pursuit of continual improvement|
|10%||Perform additional tasks as directed by the Manager of Composite Strengthening Systems and the Branch Engineering Manager|
Education & Certification Requirements

|Required||B.S. degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering.|

|2 years||Design experience with fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) systems applicable to established design guides.|

|Software||Frequently used software includes: Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access as well as other software including AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Acrobat, and SharePoint. Simpson Strong-Tie web apps are often used as tools for design.|
Travel Required / %: This job requires domestic travel, 20%-30% of the time.
This full-time, exempt position can be located in Columbus, Ohio or Chicago, Illinois.
Relocation may be considered for this position.
