You want to be an important member of a strong team of other makers who take pride in their work and support each other. As the Director of Sales, you will provide leadership and direction to entire branch sales team and selectively increase sales and profits to meet budget.

What You'll Be Doing

% Time Job Responsibilities
40% Manage Sales Management Team and monitor and review sales team and processes. Drive strategy and short/long term goals.
30% Lead, motivate and direct employees using effective performance management techniques, including establishing expectations and goals, providing recognition and feedback, and addressing performance problems. Coach, encourage, and develop employees according to their unique interests and strengths. Empower employees to take responsibility for their career and performance. Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback. Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members and the organization.
15% Plan periodic management review meetings with major customers. Monitor and review all special pricing programs.
5% Provide sales training and observation. Plan and direct sales meetings. Attend and contribute to weekly and quarterly management meetings.
5% Determine sales commissions and related compensation plans. Review and approve sales expenditures.
5% Plan and execute promotions for the sales department. Oversee staffing and administer all performance related issues for the sales team.

Desired Skills and Experience

If you can do everything listed above, you’ve got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 5-7 years related experience and/or training.
  • 5 years managing others.
  • Speaking: ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Writing: ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Reading Comprehension: ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Analysis/Reasoning: ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Mathematical Reasoning: ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Problem Solving: ability to manage and resolve conflicts in a constructive manner.
  • Accountability & Dependability: ability to hold self and others accountable for measureable, high-quality, timely, and cost-effective results.
  • Customer Focus: ability to recognize adverse customer reactions and develops better alternatives.
  • Attention to Detail: ability to diligently attend to details and pursue quality in accomplishing tasks.
  • Staff Management: ability to ensure staff have the skills and resources to get things done.
  • Leadership: ability to adapt leadership style to a variety of situations.
  • Driving Record: A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required.

This job requires domestic/international travel approximately 50% of the time.

This full-time, exempt position is located in Vancouver, BC or Toronto, ON. Working out of either of our two Canadian branches.

Relocation will be considered for this position.

This position reports to the Vice President, Branch Manager.
