The Field Engineer for structural steel will coordinate all sales and market development activities while working with design professionals, specifiers and steel fabricators to obtain specification of Simpson structural steel product offerings. This position is based out of our Pitt Meadows, BC branch location.

The Field Engineer will:

• Evaluate and establish channels of distribution for sales opportunities
• Quoting and pricing for Structural Steel products and related opportunities
• Provide technical support for Simpson structural steel design software tool(s)
• Assist with jobsite support for structural steel projects
• Provide technical support to steel fabricators/detailers
• Provide customer feedback and requests to the Market Development Manager, Product Managers and engineers
• Assist with development and review of literature for structural steel product offerings

What You'll Be Doing

Desired Skills and Experience

If you can do everything listed above, you’ve got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

• Licensed Professional Engineer registered in British Columbia required
• B.S. degree in Civil/Structural Engineering preferred
• 5 years structural design experience in structural steel projects. Experiences in design of wood, masonry, and concrete.
• 3 years computer experience (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, ACAD, Revit, various design and detailing software). Experience with using structural analysis software ETAB and RISA preferred.
• Construction knowledge: Practical working knowledge of common steel construction methods. Familiarity with Simpson products is a plus.
• Speaking and communication: Communicate verbally in an appropriate way for the audience he/she is speaking to. Ability to effectively present information to top management, customers, and other groups.
• Customer focus: Quickly and effectively solve customer problems and maintain productive internal and external customer relationships. Readily re-adjust priorities to respond to pressing and changing customer needs. Recognize potentially adverse customer reactions and develop better alternatives.
• Teamwork: Maintain a collaborative approach in dealing with other Simpson Strong-Tie employees. Demonstrate a genuine commitment to reach mutually beneficial solutions.
• Driving record: Possess and maintain a driving record which complies with company policy.

This position requires domestic up to 50% of the time with occasional overnight stays.

This full-time, exempt position is located in Pitt Meadows, British Columbia.

Relocation is not available for this position.

This position reports to the Branch Engineering Manager at Pitt Meadows, British Columbia.
