Quality Control Technician

West Chicago, IL

Position Summary:

The Quality Control Technician will be responsibility for performing quality inspections on incoming purchased products and samples including taking dimensional measurements, performing packaging inspections, performing proofing tests for hardness or durometer, leaking and functions and ultimate loads. In addition will be required to perform some of the daily duties of the Quality Manager in his/her absence.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

25% Analyze and update quality documentation (work instructions, test procedures, internal references, forms, product and material specification sheets, etc.), making certain that current practices are being documented.
25% erform quality inspections on incoming purchased products and samples including taking dimensional measurements, performing packaging inspections, performing proof tests for hardness or durometer, leaking and functions and ultimate loads.
25% Specific Laboratory Responsibilities: Perform routine and non-routine chemical testing of raw materials, bulk products, finished goods, stability samples, and validation samples.
25% Produce quality system documentation on all testing and procedures.

Education & Certification Requirements:

Required or Preferred Degree or Certification
Preferred Bachelor’s Degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university

Minimum Experience:

Years Type of Experience
4 Years Experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment
2 Years Related experience quality experience is a plus

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

Teamwork Ability to build and sustain cooperative working relationships.
Math Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Language/Writing/Speaking Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Analysis/Reasoning Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with MS SharePoint and Smartsheet is preferred.

This full-time, non-exempt hourly position is located in West Chicago.

Travel Required / %: This job requires minimal to no travel, 5% of the time.
