Estimator/Technical Specialist – Builder & LBM Software

Brampton, Ontario

Position Summary:

The Estimator/Technical Specialist – Builder & LBM (Lumber and Building Materials) Software will be the first point of contact in assisting Sales Managers, Builder Managers, Territory Managers, and Dealer Representatives with CG Visions technology offerings. The incumbent will be a key liaison between CG Visions and local Simpson Strong-Tie branches for building information modeling (BIM), material estimating and material management software.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

35% Demonstrate and explain how software and service offerings address customer needs and improve overall efficiency of home builder and lumber and building material (LBM) operations.
25% Assist in sales discovery sessions to help customers understand how their current estimating system can be leveraged to achieve their goals via Simpson Strong-Tie's CG Visions Estimating Software. Communicate explicit customer needs to internal teams for new business or to continue fostering inside sales.
15% Review, analyze and understand residential construction documents. Maintain an awareness of how these documents are modified and created. This includes reviewing estimation manuals and spreadsheets with an understanding of how they would translate into estimating software and workflow.
15% Develop and maintain a working knowledge of various builder management software programs to distinguish how Simpson Strong-Tie's CG Visions technology offering fits into established and ingrained systems. Thus, maintaining and promoting the customer's options in their software stack.
10% Assist in continual development of our standard estimation process based upon market observations and customer feedback.

Education & Certification Requirements:

Required or Preferred Degree or Certification
Preferred Experience with residential CAD or BIM Software
Preferred Experience with estimation software
Preferred Experience with residential construction management software
Preferred Knowledge of residential codes, purchasing practices, activities, processes, construction sequencing and trade scheduling

Presentation Skills Ability to effectively present information to customers and other groups. Ability to effectively demonstrate and explain 2D takeoff applications and 3D BIM packages, including workflows.
Computer/Software Proficient computer skills with the aptitude to investigate unfamiliar systems and mine existing databases into a shareable format (.csv, .xlsx). Maintain an understanding of how BIM and 2D Estimation helps establish "critical inputs" required from the BIM or 2D takeoffs.
Teamwork Build and sustain cooperative working relationships as a contributing member of a high performing team.

Travel Required / %: This job requires travel, 50-60% of the time.

This full-time, exempt position is located at 5 Kenview Boulevard, Brampton, Ontario and services current customers.
