Truss Software Implementation Technical Services Specialist

Position Summary

Integrated Component Software (ICS) is used by component manufacturers and design professionals. ICS software encompasses job management, design and engineering for prefabricated metal plate connected wood trusses, engineered wood products (EWP) and wall panels. The Truss Software Implementation Technical Services Specialist will provide support, training and implementation for ICS customers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

% Time Job Responsibilities
35% Provide software support, training and troubleshooting to ICS customers and software users via online customer support applications.
35% Respond to technical support calls for component design and engineering in accordance with defined procedures. Coordinate projects between customers, sales, and the Engineering Services division.
20% Provide onsite (customers’ locations) installation, implementation and training for internal and external software users. Support Simpson Strong-Tie sales team with software demonstrations.
10% Develop and maintain relationships with a new and existing customer base. Validate customer software issues and develop and execute a response plan. Write software reports and strategies, and maintain the company client database. Establish and execute training curricula in accordance with customer needs.

Education & Certification Requirements

Required or Preferred Degree or Certification
Preferred Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering Technology or Engineering Design/Drafting Diploma.

Minimum Experience

5 years Experience with design and engineering of prefabricated metal plate connected wood trusses and EWP. Understanding of wood framed construction practices and details. Knowledge of Provincial and National building codes.

Math Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
Reading Comprehension Ability to read and interpret construction documents including architectural and engineering drawings.
Speaking Must be fluent in both English and French. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Writing Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals in both English and French.
Analysis/Reasoning Communicate appropriately with audiences of varied technical backgrounds. Communicate effectively and respectfully with co-workers. Listen with full attention to what other people are saying, making sure to understand the needs being expressed, asking questions as appropriate without interrupting. Speak proficiently in front of groups of customers, coworkers, and managers.
Analysis/Reasoning Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer/Software Ability to utilize Microsoft Office suite, working knowledge of SQL databases, and basic understanding of computer networking, along with hardware and software troubleshooting.
Driving record Possess and maintain a driving record which complies with company policy.

Travel Required / %: This job requires domestic overnight/extended travel approximately 20% of the time.

This full-time, exempt position is located at 5 Kenview Boulevard, Brampton, Ontario and services current customers.
