SET Epoxy Adhesive

SET

On This Page

SET is a high-strength, non-shrink, epoxy-based adhesive formulated for anchoring and doweling threaded rod and rebar. Resin and hardener are dispensed and mixed simultaneously through the mixing nozzle.

Key Features

  • Code listed under the IBC/IRC for URM per ICC-ES ESR-1772
  • Meets or exceeds the requirements of ASTM C881 specification for Type I and IV, Grade 3, Class C
  • Cure times — 24 hours at 65°F (18° C), 72 hours at 40°F (4° C)
  • Easy hole-cleaning procedure — no power-brushing required
  • Suitable for use in damp or wet anchor sites
  • When properly mixed, adhesive will be a uniform gray color
  • Available in 22 oz. cartridge for application versatility
  • Manufactured in the USA using global materials
Model No. Option Packaging Qty. Carton Qty. Compatible Tools
SET22 22 oz. side-by-side cartridge 1 10 EDT22S, EDTA22CKT or EDTA22P dispensing tools / EMN22i mixing nozzle
SET22-N 22 oz. side-by-side cartridge w/ nozzle 1 10 EDT22S, EDTA22CKT or EDTA22P dispensing tools / EMN22i mixing nozzle

Applications

  • Threaded rod anchoring and rebar doweling into concrete, masonry and URM (red brick)
  • Pick-proof sealant around doors, windows and fixtures
  • Paste-over for crack injection preparation
  • Bonding hardened concrete to hardened concrete
  • CalTrans and multiple DOT listings

Storage Conditions

  • For best results store between 45°F–90°F. To store partially used cartridges, leave hardened nozzle in place. To re-use attach new nozzle.

Shelf Life

  • 24 months from date of manufacture in unopened side-by-side cartridge

Installation

  • Surfaces to receive epoxy must be clean.
  • Base material temperature must be 40°F (4°C) or above at the time of installation. For best results, material should be 70°F (21°C)–80°F (27°C) at time of application.
  • To warm cold material, store cartridges in a warm, uniformly heated area or storage container. Do not immerse cartridges in water to facilitate warming.
  • Mixed material in nozzle can harden in 30 minutes at temperatures of 70°F (21°C) and above.
  • Use only Simpson Strong-Tie mixing nozzles in accordance with Simpson Strong-Tie instructions. Modification or improper use of mixing nozzle may impair SET adhesive performance.
  • For full instructions, see Adhesive Anchoring Installation Instructions.

Suggested Specifications

Anchoring adhesive shall be a two-component high-solids epoxy based system supplied in manufacturer's standard cartridge and dispensed through a static-mixing nozzle supplied by the manufacturer. Epoxy shall meet the minimum requirements of ASTM C-881 specification for Type I, II, IV, and V, Grade 3, Class B and C and must develop a minimum 12,650 psi compressive yield strength after 7 day cure. Epoxy must have a heat deflection temperature of a minimum 136°F (58°C). Adhesive shall be SET adhesive from Simpson Strong-Tie, Pleasanton, CA. Anchors shall be installed per Simpson Strong-Tie instructions for SET adhesive.
