S/H2.5 and S/H3 Hurricane Ties

The S/H2.5 and S/H3 are designed to resist seismic and wind forces in cold-formed steel applications. These single-sided hurricane ties form part of a continuous load path for both lateral and uplift loads. The S/H2.5 is made for moderate loads at the rafter/truss, while the S/H3 is made for moderate loads at the rafter/truss-to-top-track connection.

Key Features

  • Provide a connection between the rafter or truss and the wall of the structure
  • Engineered to resist wind and seismic forces
  • Can be used for a variety of connections where one member crosses another

Material

  • 43 mil (18 ga.)

Finish

  • Galvanized (G90)

Installation

  • Use all specified fasteners
  • Hurricane ties do not replace solid blocking
  • S/H2.5 and S/H3 ties are only shipped in equal quantities of rights and lefts

Load Table

  1. Loads are based on attachment of cold-formed steel members having a minimum thickness of 33 mil (20 ga.).
  2. Hurricane ties are shown installed on the outside of wall for clarity. Installation inside of wall is acceptable. For Continuous Load Path, connections in the same area must be on same side of wall.
