JBA Junior Bent Hanger

The JBA is a top-flange hanger for solid sawn lumber applications. This cost-effective hanger is designed to support light-to-medium loads while providing uplift. The JBA also features optional triangular nail holes for maximum nailing to increase allowable loads.

Key Features

  • Unique two-level embossment provides added stiffness to the top flange
  • Nail locations that enable effective use with nailers
  • Additional load rating for a 2x or 3x nailer
  • Engineered with increased uplift loads for earthquake or high-wind loading

Material

  • 18 gauge

Finish

  • Galvanized

Installation

  • Use specified fasteners; see General Notes and nailer table notes.
  • Ledgers must be evaluated for each application separately. Check top-flange dimension, nail length and nail location on ledger.

  1. Uplift loads have been increased for earthquake or wind loading with no further increase allowed. Reduce where other loads govern.
  2. Uplift loads are based on DF/SP. For SPF/HF, use 0.86 x DF/SP Uplift Load for products requiring nails and 0.72 x DF/SP Uplift Load for products requiring screws.
  3. Where noted for single-ply joist hangers, use (6) 0.148" x 1 1/2" nails.
  4. Fasteners: Nail dimensions in the table are listed diameter by length. For additional information, see Fastener Types and Sizes Specified for Simpson Strong-Tie Connectors.
