How much does it cost to attend a Simpson Strong-Tie workshop?

Nothing! All our workshops are free of charge.

Do your learning events offer Continuing Education Units or Professional Development Hours (PDHs)?

Yes! Qualified professionals may be awarded Continuing Education credits and/or PDHs for attendance at Simpson Strong-Tie workshops. See the individual workshop descriptions or Continuing Education Credit page for more information.

Please contact your certifying of licensing organization or agency directly to inquire if they accept CEUs from IACET providers.

Does Simpson Strong-Tie offer AIA HSW credits for any of their courses?

Yes. Simpson Strong-Tie is an approved provider with AIA CES for some of our online courses. To view our AIA CES online course offerings on our home page, select the “On-line Courses Offering CEUs/AIA HSW”. A test must be passed with a score of 80% in order to receive HSW credits.

Some of our live workshops are also approved for HSW credits. No test is required in order to receive HSW credits for approved instructor led courses.

If I attend an AIA approved course offering HSW credits, do I have to submit my credit information to the AIA CES?

No. As long as your AIA member number is entered into your profile in our student center and you attend 100% of the AIA approved course, Simpson Strong-Tie will report credits earned within 10 business days from when you pass the course.

Can I self-report my credits earned for a Simpson Strong-Tie AIA approved online course offering HSW credits?

No, if you report your credit information for one of Simpson Strong-Tie’s approved HSW courses to the AIA CES, the credit information will not be accepted. Simpson Strong-Tie must report your credit information on your behalf for any Simpson Strong-tie HSW approved course.

Do any of your courses qualify for general AIA/LUs?

No. AIA does not permit registered providers to offer unregistered courses. So, as a registered provider we must submit your activity for registered courses and you cannot self submit unregisterd courses.

Can I take the same AIA approved course every year and receive AIA credits?

No. AIA members are only permitted to take the same course once every three years for AIA continuing education credits.

If I attend an ICC approved Instructor Led event offering CEUs, do I have to submit my credit information to the ICC?

Yes. Please include your ICC member number on your Simpson profile if you would like it to show on your certificates of attendance or completion.

Do I have to take and pass a test to receive ICC CEUs for an approved Instructor Led training event?

No, you must be in attendance for 100% of the time the class is in session.

Do I have to take and pass a test to receive ICC CEUs for an approved online course?

Yes. You must pass the test associated with the online course that you take with an 80% or better.

If I take an ICC approved online offering CEUs, do I have to submit my credit information to the ICC?

Yes. Please include your ICC member number on your Simpson profile if you would like it to show on your certificates of attendance or completion.

Can I take the same ICC approved course every year and receive ICC credits?

No. ICC members are only permitted to take the same course once every three years for ICC continuing education credits.

How many hours of credit is equivalent to .1 CEU? (See more info from IACET)

The awarding of the Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is a recognized method of quantifying participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction. One CEU is defined as ten contact hours of time spent in such an educational experience. A typical full day workshop usually offers 0.7 CEUs which is equal to 7 contact hours.
10 hours = 1.0 CEU
7 hours = 0.7 CEU
One hour = .1 CEU

Do I have to pass a test in order to receive IACET CEUs?

Yes. In order to receive Continued Educational Units (CEUs) you must first meet all of the event completion requirements, and then attain a 70% for Instructor Led workshops and an 80% for online courses. You are allowed unlimited attempts at passing the test associated with the event that you attended.

Do I have to pass a test in order to receive PDH?

No, you are not required to take a test in order to receive PDHs, however, you are required to attend at least 90% of the workshop.

Do the CEU’s earned from your training courses apply to New York CEU Requirements for Engineers and Architects? 

Yes. The state of NY accepts CEUs from IACET accredited providers. Click on the links below to view the State of New York’s acceptance criteria.

In "Your Workshop History" under "Status": What does an "Attended" Status mean?

An attended status means that the participant has met the attendance requirements for a workshop and has been awarded Professional Development Hours (PDHs) for the quantity of contact hours that were offered for that workshop.

What does a "Passed" Status mean?

A passed status means that the participant has met the workshop completion requirements and has also passed the online assessment associated with this workshop. Participants that receive a passed status have been awarded the quantity of CEUs that were offered for that workshop.

What does a "Self Enrolled" Status mean?

This participant has self-enrolled in a scheduled class which has not yet taken place.

What does an "Enrolled" Status mean?

This participant has been enrolled by a Simpson training representative for a class which has not yet taken place.

What does a "K" Status mean?

This participant failed to meet one or more of the attendance requirements outlined in our IACET Program Completion Requirement Policy .

What does an "X" Status mean?

This participant has cancelled from a class that they were previously enrolled in.

What time does the workshop end?

Normally for an all day workshop the hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. unless otherwise noted. See the individual workshop descriptions for more information.

Can more than one person from our office attend?

Absolutely! We have no limits, other than first come first served by registration only.
